Firewater is a growing company providing technical and security escort services to government and commercial clients. We are currently hiring personnel to serve our DOE clients. Areas of expertise include: Transportation Technical Services, Waste Management and Environmental Compliance, and Security Escorting. Q clearance is preferred, but not required for all positions. A positive attitude is a plus.

Security Escorts

The Escort is primarily responsible to perform protective service and escort work such as escorting uncleared individuals into designated buildings and property, protecting equipment and material, and controlling access to installations by employees and visitors. The Escort will ensure positive control of all approved but uncleared individuals – from verification of identify upon arrival at the facility to personally escorting them within the facility and ensuring they exit appropriately. The Escort does not act in the capacity of a law enforcement officer, and has no arrest or apprehension powers.

Responsibilities
  • Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies, and perform all assigned duties in a safework manner.
  • Arrive at work at the designated time in proper uniform and carrying needed, issued equipment.
  • Will carry out general and special orders for post assigned.
    Will communicate via radio, telephone and orally according to orders.
    Required to interact and escort as required with public and government personnel.
    Will be responsible for cleanliness of uniform and equipment assigned.
    Meet, greet and interact professionally with employees and the general public
    Maintain poise and self-control under stress.
    Construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports in English.
    Must be able to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays.
    Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Requirements:
  • Must currently possess an active Q clearance
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Successfully completed all training, badging and have obtained all required permits, licenses, certifications and security clearances for the site. (Training classes to be determined, examples : General Employee Training; Annual Security Refresher Briefing; Initial Hearing Conservation;  comprehensive briefing, 40 Hour Hazwoper (current 8-hour refresher)
  • While performing escort duties, the Security Escort is required to stand for extended periods of time, walk to and from job sites, climb stairs, use fingers to feel objects or controls, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and reach with arms and hands.
  • Job conditions may require working indoors or outdoors in hot, cold, wet, or noisy environments.
  • Security Escorts are subject to Company random drug and alcohol testing

Transportation Specialist

Minimum of 5 years experience identifying, classifying, and shipping hazardous and radioactive material for DOE, preparing transportation documentation in compliance with DOT, NRC, and EPA regulatory requirements and interfacing with selected transporters to schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments in commerce. DOE advanced training or equivalent. A Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Engineering, or science related field, or related experience. (see below for more details)

Waste Management Specialist

Minimum of 5 years experience with: characterizing and profiling waste for DOE sites. Knowledge of waste acceptance criteria for TSDR facilities selected for treatment and/or disposal of waste. Experience working with various TSDRF’s to resolve waste acceptance issues. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a science related field or related experience preferred.

Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Minimum of 5 years experience in the following areas: Must be able to conduct compliance assessments and regulatory interpretations under the guidance of senior regulatory compliance staff; must understand and be capable of correctly applying regulatory policies and procedures to various manufacturing and operational activities; and properly utilize industry standard, client defined, and corporate information systems activities to support client environmental regulatory support activities. Must also be experienced in utilizing identified relevant industry standards, as well as existing client policies, procedures, and guidelines, in support of environmental compliance analysis and activities. TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST II

Experience:
Fifteen (15) or more years of related experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.

Work activity may include, but is not limited to:

Identifying and classifying hazardous materials;
Determining the most cost effective hazardous materials packaging, and interfacing with Waste Generator Services organization to ensure the selected packing will comply with the waste acceptance criteria of the TSD facility.
Preparing shipments and transportation documentation in compliance with Department of Transportation, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Environmental Protection Agency regulatory requirements;
Participating in current and future transportation issue resolution;
Interfacing with transportation operations personnel to coordinate shipments;
Interfacing with selected transporters to schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments in commerce;
Providing planning and project management support;
Performing assigned tasks with limited supervision.

Work activity requires:

A working knowledge of Federal, state, and local government regulations; and
A working knowledge of waste acceptance criteria for DOE approved TSD facilities selected for treatment and/or disposal of waste.
A demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks independently with limited supervision;
A demonstrated ability to supervise others; and
A demonstrated ability to provide guidance and assistance to other project employees.

TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST I

Experience:

Five (5) or more years of related experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Transportation or a related field or appropriate certification.

Work activity may include, but is not limited to:
Identifying and classifying hazardous materials under direct supervision;
Preparing shipments and documents in compliance with Department of Transportation, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Environmental Protection Agency regulatory requirements;
Interfacing with transportation operations personnel to coordinate shipments;
Interfacing with transporters to schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments;
Providing planning and project management support; and
Performing assigned tasks with limited supervision.
Work activity requires: A working knowledge of Federal, state and local government regulations; and
A working knowledge of waste acceptance criteria for TSD facilities selected for treatment and disposal of waste.

WASTE PACKAGING SPECIALIST II

Experience:
Fifteen (15) or more years of related experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science related curriculum or a related field or appropriate field experience.

Work activity may include, but is not limited to:
Performing and documenting inspections of waste management and transportation related activities to verify compliance;
Performing inspection, surveillance, and oversight of activities critical to the ORR and NNSS Waste Certification Programs as requested by the Waste Certification Official;
Performing and documenting inspections of transportation related activities including but not limited to container and conveyance condition, waste container preparation and acceptance, and waste container closure and overall acceptability;
Identifying and documenting non-conforming items and conditions in accordance with  Quality Assurance nonconformance reporting requirements;
Performing oversight of waste materials sorting and segregation and waste packaging activities;
Performing characterization verification and package certification activities as required;
Participating in the selection, maintenance, and control of project waste containers and other items deemed critical to the project.
Providing technical direction in the field for waste segregation and detection of prohibited items in waste.
Performing assigned tasks with limited supervision.

Work activity requires: A working knowledge of Federal, state, and local government regulations;
A working knowledge of waste acceptance criteria for DOE approved TSD facilities;

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

Responsibilities:

Must be able to conduct compliance assessments and regulatory interpretations under the guidance of senior regulatory compliance staff; must understand and be capable of correctly applying regulatory policies and procedures to various manufacturing and operational activities; and properly utilize industry standard, client defined, and corporate information systems activities to support client environmental regulatory support activities. Must also be experienced in utilizing identified relevant industry standards, as well as existing client policies, procedures, and guidelines, in support of environmental compliance analysis and activities.

Principal Accountabilities:
Participate as a team member on compliance assessments within area of specialty/advanced knowledge.
Prepare all necessary compliance assessment reports in accordance with established timelines and professional standards.
Ensure compliance reports are thorough, accurate, well supported by applicable laws and regulations, and specific as to which areas should be prioritized for focus / improvement.
Support highly-complex, or specialized, compliance measurements, assessments, and advisory projects for clients.
Recommend routine improvements to operations, general processes, quality, and measurement and reporting compliance procedures to management.
Maintain and monitor relevant regulatory compliance guides to ensure accurate and contemporary content and procedure.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of industry leading practices.
Providing technical direction in the field for waste segregation and detection of prohibited items in waste.
Performing assigned tasks with limited supervision.

Minimum Eligibility Factors:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a closely related degree; or equivalent education, training and experience.
One to 5 years professional experience with exposure to internal audit concepts or compliance assessment activities of government, industrial, and commercial organizations preferred.
Experience participating in assessment activities, conducting measurement exercises, and providing written reports and formal communications to management under the guidance of senior regulatory compliance staff.
Relevant professional certifications / licenses desirable (PE, or other)
Must be capable of serving as team member or leader within a collaborative culture. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be proficient in partnering.
Must have specific knowledge of compliance concepts, auditing principles, process improvement, project management, data analysis, program measurement and reporting, and training effectiveness.

SENIOR REGULATORY COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

Responsibilities:
Must be able to conduct complex, specialized compliance assessments and regulatory interpretations; must understand and be capable of correctly applying regulatory policies and procedures to various manufacturing and operational activities; and properly utilize industry standard, client defined, and corporate information systems activities to support client environmental regulatory support activities.
Must also be experienced in utilizing identified relevant industry standards, as well as existing client policies, procedures, and guidelines, in support of environmental compliance analysis and activities.

Lead relevant compliance assessments within area of specialty/advanced knowledge.
Prepare all necessary compliance assessment reports in accordance with established timelines and professional standards.

Lead highly-complex, or specialized, compliance measurements, assessments, and advisory projects for clients.
